Went to Katong Shopping Centre this morning to buy exam papers for my sis. Had to wait half an hour for the person to photocopy. So I decided to take a walk around the shopping centre itself - but because it was too early, alot of the shops weren't open. Only the two BIGGEST "industry players" in there were - Photocopying, and Maid Agencies. The place is overflowing with them.
Which didn't interest me in the least. But at least I had dearie accompany me on the phone~ Xie xie dar dar <3 =P
(Hmm I'm supposed to be hearing a song now, but some other mellow song is playing, and I don't know where's that coming from o.O None of my windows seem to be playing any songs...)
There's something really interesting about all the maid agencies in there. Every single one of them uses local celebrity as product endorsement. Jack Neo. Li Nan Xing. Lol.
For example, one of the maid agencies, Jack Focus, had Jack Neo on its advertisement. JACK Focus. JACK Neo. What?!
Then I saw one more, with Li Nanxing, his mom, and their maid on the IPB maid agency advertisement. Naw, his mom and him look worlds apart. Then dear asked me, whether my mom and I looked alike. Well. Hmm. Heh heh.
Walked around some more, and saw the popular put-your-hand-in demonic looking stone machine, where it tells your fortune supposedly. You know, that fierce looking white faced guy with his mouth open for you to put your hand in? It was hollering something when I walked past. Gah. He gives me the creeps.
Walked back up to the level with the photocopy shop. Shops rather.
Ya, thats one big cluster of them, each next to each other. Right... Competitive edge?
Stood opposite, and waited. Then this tourist lady comes up to me, and asks me where she can buy electronics. I was thinking, "Here? You're in the wrong place, lady". But there was this un-opened electronics behind. With another celeb endorsement on its ad. What is wrong with these people... So anyway, being a nice Singaporean, I told her, she could go to Courts (never heard of it, she says), Harvey Norman (har what? Harwey Normang? Orh). Tampines? (ya heard of it) Yea there's a Courts there. Or rather, you can go to Vivocity (Vi what? Wiwohity? Orh). (So what do I tell the taxi driver? Wiwohity? Ya. Thank you ah!)Yea, I feel so good.
So I went and collected the papers, paying $55 in total. Yea, for Primary 5 exam papers. The shopkeeper asked me: You're a tuition teacher? Nope. Lol. My sister's supposed to do all these.
LOL.
She'll probably run away, the shopkeeper said. Yea...
